Core functions include asset management, which tracks equipment, maintenance histories, and end-of-life planning; scheduling and dispatch, which assigns rides to available resources; demand management, which aligns capacity with anticipated demand through scheduling, pricing, or service adjustments; maintenance and safety programs, encompassing preventive maintenance, inspections, certifications, and compliance with safety standards; incident response and safety protocols to manage accidents, outages, or service disruptions; data collection and monitoring using telemetry, sensors, and performance dashboards; and customer-flow management, which in amusement parks may include ride throughput optimization and queue management, while in transit or ride-hailing it covers passenger load balancing and routing.

Technologies used include operations support systems, fleet management software, SCADA and ride-control systems, IoT sensor networks, data analytics platforms, and integrated ticketing or customer relationship management systems.
