Rhanari

Rhanari is a town and administrative center in the central lowlands of the fictional nation of Narath. It lies along the Rha River, about 60 kilometers north of the regional capital of Keldar, and serves as a local hub for transport, markets, and public services. The town has a population of around 28,000 as of 2023.

The name Rhanari is thought to derive from the Narathi word for river bend, reflecting its position on the meandering river.

Rhanari sits on a fertile alluvial plain with a temperate climate; average annual rainfall is around 700–800 millimeters; the river supports agriculture and provides fishing opportunities nearby.

The settlement traces back to the 11th century as a riverine trading post; it grew through the medieval period, and the arrival of a railway in the late 19th century linked it to larger markets and spurred industrial development.

The local economy centers on agriculture—especially rice, wheat, and vegetables—grain milling, and light manufacturing; in recent decades logistics and tourism have expanded.

The population is predominantly Narathi-speaking, with small minority communities and migrant workers. Local culture emphasizes crafts, with textiles and pottery among the notable products of the area.

Rhanari hosts the River Festival each autumn and preserves several heritage sites, including the Rhanari Fortress, the Riverside Market, and the Old Library Museum.

Governance and infrastructure: The town is governed by a municipal council led by a mayor; it is part of Narath's central district and is connected by regional roads and a passenger railway line. A small airstrip accommodates charter traffic.
