Rezervoari

Rezervoari is the Romanian term for vessels designed to store liquids or gases. The word covers a range of objects from small domestic tanks to large industrial reservoirs. In engineering practice, rezervoare include water storage tanks, fuel tanks, chemical containment vessels, and artificial reservoirs used in water supply, heating, or processing facilities. Their primary function is to provide a controlled volume for storage, automation, and process management, supporting steady supply and operational efficiency.

Construction and materials: Rezervoari are made from steel, concrete, fiberglass-reinforced polymer, or composite materials, and may be above ground or underground. Basic components include the shell, closures, inlets and outlets, level or pressure sensors, and access points. Safety features often include vents, overflow, anti-foaming devices, and secondary containment. Coatings or linings protect against corrosion, chemical attack, and environmental exposure.

Applications: Water reservoirs store potable water or treated wastewater; industrial tanks hold fuels, lubricants, chemicals, or process fluids; compressed-air tanks store pressurized gas; and cryogenic or LNG vessels handle liquefied gases. They vary in size from a few liters to many thousands of cubic meters and may be designed for static storage or dynamic process use.

Design and regulation: Design follows national and international standards to address capacity, material compatibility, temperature, pressure, seismic risk, and environmental protection. Typical considerations include duty cycle, cleaning, leak detection, insulation, and energy efficiency. Maintenance involves regular inspection, corrosion protection, testing, and appropriate decommissioning when the tank is retired.
