Respiratorfiltrets, commonly referred to as respirator filters, are critical components of respiratory protective equipment (RPE). Their primary function is to remove airborne contaminants from the air that a user inhales. These filters are designed to trap specific types of particles or gases, depending on their construction and intended use.

There are two main categories of respirator filters: particulate filters and gas and vapor filters. Particulate filters are effective against dust, mist, and fumes, and are often classified by their efficiency rating, such as N95, N99, N100, P95, P99, and P100, indicating their ability to filter out 95%, 99%, or 99.97% of airborne particles. Gas and vapor filters, on the other hand, contain sorbent materials like activated charcoal that adsorb or react with specific gases and vapors. These filters are often color-coded to indicate the type of contaminant they are designed to protect against.

Respirator filters must be compatible with the specific respirator device they are intended for and should be replaced regularly according to manufacturer guidelines or when breathing resistance increases, or if the filter becomes damaged or contaminated. Proper selection, fit, and maintenance of respirator filters are essential to ensure effective protection against workplace hazards.
