Resistivitätswerte, also known as resistivity values, represent a fundamental material property that quantifies how strongly a given material opposes the flow of electric current. This intrinsic characteristic is independent of the object's shape or size, unlike electrical resistance, which is dependent on geometry. Resistivity is typically denoted by the Greek letter rho ($\rho$) and is measured in units of ohm-meters ($\Omega \cdot m$).

The resistivity of a material is inversely proportional to its conductivity. Materials with low resistivity, such as copper and silver, are excellent conductors and are used in electrical wiring. Conversely, materials with high resistivity, like rubber and glass, are good insulators and are employed to prevent electrical current from flowing. Semiconductors, such as silicon and germanium, have resistivity values that fall between those of conductors and insulators, and their resistivity can be manipulated by doping, making them crucial components in electronic devices.

Factors such as temperature, pressure, and the presence of impurities can influence a material's resistivity. For most conductors, resistivity increases with temperature. This relationship is often linear over a specific temperature range, and the temperature coefficient of resistivity is used to describe this change. Understanding resistivity values is essential for designing and analyzing electrical circuits, selecting appropriate materials for various applications, and developing new electronic components.
