Reseptkode

Reseptkode is a term used in health information systems to denote the unique identifier assigned to a prescription within electronic prescribing workflows. In languages such as Norwegian and Swedish, reseptkode (or receptkod) acts as a machine-readable code that links a specific prescription to the patient, the prescriber, the drug product, and dispensing events. The concept is part of broader e-prescribing and national drug safety programs.

Purpose and uses: It enables pharmacies to verify the prescription, retrieve the correct medication and dosage, and process refills or renewals. The code can be used to generate an audit trail for safety, billing, and regulatory compliance, and to integrate information across electronic health records, pharmacy management systems, and national prescription registries.

Data and lifecycle: A reseptkode typically accompanies information such as patient identifier, prescriber identifier, drug product code, dosage, quantity, directions for use, issue date, and status (active, redeemed, canceled). The code may be invalid after fulfillment or after a defined expiration period, at which point renewal or a new prescription is required.
