Rereleased is the adjective form of release, meaning something that has been released again after an initial release. In media and publishing, items are often rereleased to reach new audiences, commemorate anniversaries, or capitalize on renewed interest. A rerelease may or may not include changes to content, packaging, or presentation.

In practice, rereleases occur across industries. In cinema, a film can be given a theatrical rerelease, sometimes in a restored or remastered form. In music, albums may be reissued with bonus tracks, liner notes, or remastered audio. In video games and software, publishers may release updated editions for new platforms, with bug fixes or feature additions. In books, reissues can add forewords, new introductions, or revised text. The terms rerelease, reissue, and remaster are related but not always interchangeable: rerelease is a broad term for another release; a reissue typically implies a new edition or packaging; a remaster involves improved audio or video quality, sometimes alongside additional content.

Rights and licensing play a role: rereleases require permission from the rights holders, and changes in format (digital versus physical) can affect distribution. Rereleases can revive interest in older works, widen accessibility, and attract collectors, but reception varies depending on changes made and market conditions.
