Reog
Reog is a traditional Indonesian dance originating from Ponorogo, East Java. It is a vibrant and visually striking performance that typically involves a large, elaborately decorated mask representing the head of a tiger or lion, adorned with an abundance of peacock feathers. This mask, known as the "kepala singa barong" or "barongan," is so large that it is held in place by the dancer's teeth, requiring considerable strength and skill.
The dance itself is characterized by its dynamic movements, often featuring acrobatic feats and dramatic storytelling.
The music accompanying Reog is typically loud and energetic, played on traditional instruments such as gongs,
Historically, Reog has been associated with various purposes, including religious rituals, martial arts training, and entertainment.
