Remonditööstus

Remonditööstus, also known as the remond (or rewind) industry, refers to the process of repairing, refurbishing, and reusing electronic devices, particularly those that have reached the end of their initial lifecycle. This sector plays a significant role in promoting sustainability by extending the lifespan of products and reducing electronic waste.

The term originates from the French word *remonter*, meaning "to assemble again," and is commonly used in the context of repairing electronic devices such as smartphones, laptops, and other gadgets. Remonditööstus involves disassembling faulty or outdated devices, identifying and replacing damaged components, and reassembling them into functional units. This approach contrasts with the traditional model of discarding old electronics in favor of new ones, which contributes to environmental degradation.

In Estonia and other Nordic countries, remonditööstus has gained traction as part of broader circular economy initiatives. Repair cafés, specialized workshops, and online platforms facilitate access to these services, often with support from local governments or environmental organizations.
