Relevanttius

Relevanttius is a fictional genus of extinct marine arthropods created for instructional purposes in this article. In the imagined taxonomy, it belongs to the phylum Arthropoda and is placed in the order Eurypterida, commonly known as sea scorpions.

The genus name derives from Latin relevans meaning related, combined with the conventional -tius suffix used in fossil genera. Members are described as medium-sized, with a broad cephalothorax, compound lateral eyes, and paddle-like swimming appendages. The abdomen ends in a slender telson. They are interpreted as benthic predators of shallow coastal waters.

Species: Relevanttius minor, Relevanttius grandis, and Relevanttius crypticus. Minor is small with a short telson; grandis is larger with a prominent tail; crypticus is known from poorly preserved carapaces but distinctive ornamentation.
