Reimpende

Reimpende is a small municipality and civil parish in the rural Greenshore region of Veridia. The municipality covers approximately 32 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 1,150 in 2023, resulting in a low population density. The landscape consists of rolling farmland, scattered deciduous forests, and a short stream that runs through the southern plains.

History: Reimpende developed in the Middle Ages around a water mill and an agricultural manor. The first documentary reference dates to 1272, when the settlement was listed as Rimpende. The name is thought to derive from an old river name combined with a term meaning cleared land.

Economy and infrastructure: The local economy relies on agriculture—primarily cereals and dairy products—and small-scale crafts. A cooperative dairy and a weekly farmers’ market remain central to village life. The village is connected by regional roads; the nearest rail link is in a neighboring town about 9–12 kilometers away. A limited bus service connects Reimpende with adjacent communities.

Culture and landmarks: The parish church of St. Mary, built in the 17th century, sits on a hill overlooking the village. A restored windmill preserved as a cultural monument stands near the village green. An annual harvest festival in September is a traditional focal point for residents and visitors.

Administration: Local government is provided by a small elected council and a mayor. Public services include a primary school, a volunteer fire brigade, and basic medical access in nearby towns.
