Regals is a term used in a fictional fantasy setting to designate a hereditary dynasty and its associated court that governs a realm through ceremonial monarchy. The Regals claim legitimacy from a legendary founder who united scattered realms and established the Crown. Over centuries, the dynasty developed a twofold role: sovereign rulers and custodians of ritual tradition, ensuring political continuity even when practical power is dispersed among other institutions.

The polity centers on a hereditary line—the Regals—who appoint a council, the High Regal Court, to advise on state matters and to authorize major ceremonies. A separate order, the Regalia Keepers, guards the state regalia—the Crown, Orb, and Sceptre—and administers coronations and oaths.

Regals symbolize the realm’s identity through their insignia, which combine crown motifs with laurel and solar imagery, used in heraldry, architecture, and ceremonial dress. Ceremonies emphasize legitimacy, lineage, and loyalty, often performed in the citadel of Dawn and before clergy and nobles, and accompanied by pageantry and music.
