Refractometrie
Refractometrie, or refractometry, is a measurement technique used to determine the refractive index of a substance by observing how light bends as it passes from one medium into another. The refractive index, denoted n, characterizes how fast light travels in the material and depends on wavelength and temperature.
In practice, refractometry is performed with refractometers. Older, optical instruments such as the Abbe refractometer measure
Refractometry finds wide use for determining concentration and quality in liquids, identifying substances, and characterizing materials.
Limitations include the need for a transparent or hazy-free sample, as turbidity or particulates scatter light
