Razelor

Razelor is a rare silicate mineral named after the Razelor region in the fictional realm of Aetheria. It was defined in 2068 by mineralogists Lila Kharin and Omar Noor during a regional survey. The mineral is valued for its iridescent blue-green color and high optical anisotropy.

Razelor crystallizes in a tetragonal system and forms prismatic or tabular crystals, though most specimens are granular masses. It has a vitreous to pearly luster, translucency to transparency, and shows strong interference colors in polarized light. Typical hardness on the Mohs scale is 6.5–7, with a measured density around 3.25 g/cm3. Refractive indices are reported as nα ≈ 1.62, nβ ≈ 1.66, nγ ≈ 1.70, with notable birefringence.

Geologically, Razelor occurs in hydrothermal veins within ultramafic and metamorphic terrains, often forming near contact zones with silica-rich fluids. It is commonly associated with quartz, magnetite, and serpentine. Its rarity is attributed to tight formation conditions and limited geographic distribution.

Discovery and naming: The first verified specimens were collected from the Silar Quarry in the Razelor Highlands. The name Razelor honors the region and the local language term razel, meaning "gleam."

Uses and economy: Razelor is primarily collected by mineral enthusiasts and used as a gemstone in custom jewelry, valued for color and luster. Its optical properties have attracted interest in decorative optics and authenticating tests. Sustainable mining practices and synthetic replication have limited, but not eliminated, market demand.
