Raspeig

Raspeig, officially Sant Vicent del Raspeig in Valencian, is a municipality in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain. It is part of the comarca of l'Alacantí and lies immediately north of the city of Alicante, forming part of its metropolitan area.

The town sits in the Vega de Alicante plain and has a Mediterranean climate. It is a residential and service-oriented municipality, with a population of around 60,000 people. Its built-up area blends urban neighborhoods with green spaces and local amenities.

The area developed as a rural settlement that expanded significantly in the 20th century due to the growth of Alicante and the expansion of higher education in the region. The University of Alicante maintains its San Vicente del Raspeig campus in the municipality, a factor in recent growth and urban development.

The local economy centers on services, commerce, health and education, complemented by small industries and agricultural activity in surrounding areas. Raspeig hosts municipal institutions and neighborhoods with several markets, schools, and cultural centers.
