Rashmoni
Rashmoni commonly refers to Rani Rashmoni (1793–1861), a prominent 19th-century zamindar and philanthropist in Bengal, best known for founding the Dakshineswar Kali Temple on the bank of the Hooghly River near Kolkata. Born into a wealthy landed family, she amassed extensive estates and wielded considerable influence in colonial Bengal. She was recognized for her piety and public spiritedness, funding religious institutions and social welfare projects.
In 1847–1848, she financed the construction of the Dakshineswar Kali Temple, dedicated to the goddess Kali.
