Ramdrum is a genus of extinct therapsids that lived during the Late Permian period, approximately 260 to 250 million years ago. Fossils attributed to this genus have been found primarily in the Karoo Basin of South Africa, and to a lesser extent in the Middle East. The name "Ramdrum" derives from the Afrikaans words for "ram" and "drum," reflecting its robust build and the distinctive drum-like markings found on the dorsal osteoderms of well-preserved specimens.
