One common category of structure analysis methods involves mechanical testing. These tests assess how a material behaves under applied forces, such as tension, compression, bending, and torsion. Examples include tensile testing, which measures a material's strength and ductility, and fatigue testing, which evaluates its resistance to repeated loading cycles.

Spectroscopy methods, such as Infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopy, can identify chemical composition and molecular structure.

The choice of structure analysis method depends heavily on the material, the type of information required, and the scale of investigation, ranging from macroscopic properties to atomic-level arrangements. These methods collectively contribute to quality control, failure analysis, research and development, and the optimization of material usage.
