Radrehzahlwerte, often translated as wheel speed values, refer to the rotational speed of a vehicle's wheels, typically measured in revolutions per minute (RPM). These values are crucial for various vehicle systems, most notably the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and the Electronic Stability Program (ESP). Sensors, commonly known as wheel speed sensors, are attached to each wheel hub and continuously monitor their rotation.

The ABS system uses radrehzahlwerte to detect when a wheel is about to lock up during braking. If a wheel's speed drops significantly and abruptly compared to others, the ABS intervenes by momentarily releasing and reapplying brake pressure to that specific wheel, preventing a skid and maintaining steering control. Similarly, ESP utilizes these values, along with other sensor data like steering angle, to detect and correct oversteer or understeer by selectively applying brakes to individual wheels and, if equipped, reducing engine power.
