Radiofrekvensstråling

Radiofrekvensstråling, often abbreviated as RF-stråling, refers to electromagnetic radiation in the frequency range of about 300 MHz to 300 GHz. This portion of the electromagnetic spectrum lies between microwaves and infrared radiation. RF-stråling is non-ionizing, meaning it does not have enough energy to remove electrons from atoms or molecules, and therefore cannot directly damage DNA.

Common sources of RF-stråling include radio and television broadcasts, mobile phones, Wi-Fi routers, radar systems, and microwave ovens. These devices utilize RF-stråling for communication and heating purposes. The way RF-stråling interacts with matter depends on its frequency and the properties of the material. For instance, it can be reflected, absorbed, or transmitted. Absorption of RF-stråling by biological tissues leads to heating effects.

Scientific research into the potential health effects of RF-stråling has been ongoing for decades. While studies have investigated links to various health outcomes, the overwhelming consensus from major health organizations, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), is that exposure to RF-stråling at levels below established international guidelines does not pose a known risk to human health. These guidelines are set to protect against established adverse health effects, primarily tissue heating.
