Raalueet

Raalueet is an administrative region in the northern part of the fictional country of Norda. It covers an area of about 7,200 square kilometers and had a population of roughly 310,000 as of the latest census. The regional capital is Raapoli. The region is subdivided into five municipalities: Raante, Lämpöla, Kiviranta, Järvikoski, and Särkilahti.

The landscape combines boreal forests, glacial lakes, and river valleys. The climate is subarctic to temperate, with cold winters and mild summers. The area includes several protected areas and nature reserves.

Raalueet developed as an administrative unit during the regional reforms of the 1960s, consolidating several earlier counties. Its economic base traditionally rested on forestry and mining, with diversification into manufacturing and services in the late 20th century.

The regional economy centers on forestry, wood product industries, and mineral extraction, complemented by light manufacturing, logistics, and growing tourism in nature sites and cultural heritage.

The region is governed by a Regional Council elected every four years. The council handles regional planning, healthcare administration, primary and secondary education, transport infrastructure, and economic development in cooperation with the national government.

The population is predominantly ethnically Nordish, with minority communities. The primary language is Nordish, with several minority languages spoken by immigrant groups. The region practices secular governance with a variety of cultural and religious communities.

Raalueet hosts regional festivals, museums, and outdoor recreation opportunities. Sustainable forest management and river protection are prominent policy concerns.
