Raajar

Raajar is a fictional city-state and microstate set in the imagined world of Aridia. The name Raajar derives from Raaj, meaning "king" in the native Raajari language, and is said to reflect the historical role of local rulers who governed the island chain.

Located on the northern coast of the Aridian archipelago, Raajar covers about 730 square kilometers and encompasses coastal towns, a central highland, and several harbor bays. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters and wet summers. The capital and largest city is Vayra.

The Raajari people established settlements around the 11th century and united the archipelago under a feudal-merchant state by the 13th century. Independence from the Nalmar Empire was recognized in the mid-19th century. The modern Raajari constitutional parliamentary republic has a unicameral Assembly of Raajar; the president serves as head of state, while a prime minister leads the government. Judicial independence is protected by the constitution.

Raajar maintains a diversified economy anchored in fisheries, shipbuilding, electronics manufacturing, and tourism. Renewable energy, particularly wind and tidal, is expanding. The population is about 1.2 million, with a multilingual society centered on Raajari, the official language, alongside minority languages. The culture blends coastal trade traditions with arts, music, and coastal cuisine.

Notable landmarks include the Azure Gate, Luminous Docks, and Coral Conservatory. Cultural life centers on the annual Tide Festival and a tradition of maritime storytelling.
