ROCNs

ROCNs, or Remote Operations Control Networks, refer to a class of naval vessels designed primarily for anti-aircraft warfare (AAW) and air defense missions. These ships are typically derived from commercial or civilian vessels, such as container ships or tankers, which are then modified to carry advanced naval weaponry and radar systems. The concept of ROCNs emerged as a cost-effective alternative to building dedicated warships from scratch, leveraging existing hulls and infrastructure to reduce development and operational costs.

The most notable example of a ROCN is the Chinese Type 054A frigate, which was originally based on a commercial container ship design.
