RNApolymerasets

RNApolymerasets are a conceptual term used to describe curated collections of RNA polymerases and their associated regulatory elements organized into modular units for transcription studies and biotechnological applications. The idea centers on grouping polymerases by type, regulatory partners, and compatible promoter–terminator systems to enable standardized, repeatable transcription experiments across platforms.

A typical RNApolymeraset includes a core RNA polymerase or RdRP enzyme, accessory factors or subunits that influence specificity or activity, and a designed set of regulatory DNA or RNA elements such as promoters, operators, enhancers, and terminators. Sets may be categorized as basal (constitutive expression), regulatable (responsive to signals), or orthogonal (low cross-talk with host systems). They can be assembled for prokaryotic, eukaryotic, or viral RdRP contexts, and may be provisioned for in vivo or in vitro use.
