RKHSKonzept

RKHSKonzept refers to the concept of Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Spaces (RKHS). These are Hilbert spaces of functions where a specific evaluation functional, known as the reproducing kernel, is continuous. This continuity allows for the evaluation of any function in the space at any point in the domain by inner product with the kernel function. The kernel function itself is crucial as it defines the inner product and hence the geometry of the RKHS.

The RKHS framework provides a powerful mathematical tool for various applications, particularly in machine learning and signal processing. It offers a principled way to define similarity between data points through the kernel function. This similarity measure can then be used to construct complex models, such as kernelized Support Vector Machines (SVMs) or Gaussian Processes, which can capture non-linear relationships in data. The properties of the RKHS ensure that these models are well-posed and have desirable theoretical guarantees.

The choice of kernel function is paramount in an RKHS setting, as it dictates the characteristics of the functions represented within the space and consequently the behavior of the learned model. Different kernels, such as the polynomial kernel or the Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel, induce different RKHSs and lead to distinct modeling capabilities.
