RCautojen

RCautojen, commonly referred to in English as remote-controlled cars, are miniature vehicles controlled by radio signals. They are used for hobby, sport, and education, and cover a range from compact on-road models to large off-road buggies and rock crawlers.

Origins lie in the mid-20th century, with early RC toys and experimental models. Electric models became widely available in the 1970s, while performance-focused brushless electric systems and nitro-fueled cars gained prominence in the 1990s and 2000s, expanding competitive participation worldwide.

RC cars today are powered by electric motors or internal combustion engines. Electric models may use brushed motors or brushless systems paired with electronic speed controllers. Nitro cars run on glow-plug engines fueled with methanol-based mixtures, while larger gas-powered models use small internal combustion engines.

Core components include a chassis, drivetrain, suspension, steering, a receiver, servos, an electronic speed controller, a battery pack or fuel system, and tires or tracks. Common scales range from 1:18 to 1:5, with 1:10 and 1:8 being the most popular for competition.

Racing and organized play are conducted on-road and off-road, with formats such as short courses, touring, and buggy classes. Governing bodies like IFMAR, ROAR, and EFRA oversee rules and world championships. Communities emphasize maintenance, tuning, safety, and fair competition.

Markets feature specialized brands and retailers, including Traxxas, Team Associated, HPI Racing, Tamiya, Kyosho, Arrma, and Axial. Consumers range from casual hobbyists to dedicated racers, supported by clubs, online communities, and hobby shops that provide parts and advice.
