Røyrvik

Røyrvik is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the northern part of the county, bordering Nordland county to the north and west, and Grong and Namsskogan municipalities to the south. The administrative center of Røyrvik is the village of Røyrvik. The municipality's terrain is characterized by mountains, forests, and numerous lakes, with large parts lying above the tree line.

Historically, Røyrvik has been an area with significant Sámi presence. The economy of Røyrvik has traditionally been based on agriculture and forestry, with reindeer herding also playing a role due to its proximity to traditional Sámi territories. In more recent times, hydropower production has become a significant economic activity, with several power plants located within the municipality. Tourism is also a growing sector, attracting visitors interested in outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and skiing. The natural beauty of the area, including the Limingen lake, one of Norway's largest, is a major draw. Røyrvik is known for its relatively sparse population and its remote, wilderness character. The municipality is accessed primarily by road, with connections to neighboring areas.
