Queueingstrategien, or queuing strategies, refer to the methods and rules employed to manage and process entities waiting in a queue. These strategies are fundamental in various systems, including customer service, computer networks, manufacturing, and traffic management, aiming to optimize resource utilization, minimize waiting times, and ensure fairness.

Common queuing strategies include First-Come, First-Served (FCFS), where entities are processed in the order they arrive. This is often perceived as fair but can lead to long delays for short tasks if a long task precedes them. Another strategy is Shortest-Job-First (SJF), which prioritizes entities with the shortest processing time. This can improve overall throughput but may lead to starvation for long tasks. Priority Queuing assigns different levels of importance to entities, allowing high-priority items to be processed before lower-priority ones, regardless of arrival order. This is common in systems where some tasks are time-sensitive.

Round Robin is a strategy where each entity in the queue receives a small, fixed amount of processing time before moving to the back of the queue. This is frequently used in operating systems to provide a sense of fairness and responsiveness to multiple users or processes. Other strategies might involve batching similar tasks together, using preemption to interrupt lower-priority tasks for higher-priority ones, or implementing complex algorithms that consider multiple factors like arrival time, processing time, and priority. The choice of queuing strategy significantly impacts the performance and user experience of the system.
