Quereinwirkung

Quereinwirkung is a German term used primarily in technical and scientific contexts to describe an influence or effect that occurs across boundaries or between systems in a crosswise or indirect manner. The word combines quer (cross, across) with Einwirkung (influence or effect) and signals secondary or non-primary interactions that arise from coupling, proximity, or interdependencies among components.

In engineering and physics, quereinwirkung denotes cross-coupling effects such as crosstalk between electrical circuits, mechanical interactions between neighboring parts, or electromagnetic interference from adjacent devices. In ecology, economics, or social sciences, it can refer to the indirect impact of a policy, disturbance, or action on a non-target system or on another domain within a system of interconnected elements.

Distinctions and relation to other terms: Quereinwirkung differs from Nebenwirkung (side effect) in that it emphasizes cross-domain or cross-system influence rather than a direct consequence of a single agent.
