Quedoquedó

Quedoquedó is a traditional Colombian game played primarily by children. The game's objective is simple: one player hides an object, often a small stone or a coin, and the other players try to find it. The name "quedoquedó" is derived from the Spanish phrase "quedó, quedó," which means "it remained, it remained," referencing the object staying hidden.

The game begins with one player, designated as the "hider" or "escondedor," leaving the area while the others close their eyes. The hider then conceals the chosen object somewhere within the playing space, which is typically a room or a small outdoor area. Once the object is hidden, the hider calls out "¡Quedoquedó!" to signal that the search can begin.

The other players then open their eyes and start looking for the hidden object. As players search, the hider may offer verbal clues. These clues often take the form of rhymes or simple phrases that indicate proximity to the object. For instance, if a player is getting close, the hider might say "caliente" (hot), and if they are far away, "frío" (cold).

The game continues until one player discovers the hidden object. That player then typically becomes the new hider for the next round. Quedoquedó is a popular pastime that encourages observation skills, memory, and interaction among children. It is a low-resource game, requiring no special equipment beyond a small object to hide.
