Proponents describe Qualitativia as a set of guiding principles rather than a fixed method.

Core concepts include triangulation across data sources, reflexivity of researchers, iterative theory-building, and transparent coding practices. Methods commonly associated with Qualitativia include mixed-methods study designs, rapid ethnography, qualitative data science, and the use of coding schemes aligned with research questions, along with computational text analysis for large qualitative datasets.

Applications span product design and user experience research, policy evaluation, health care quality improvement, education, and social science research. It aims to produce findings that are both contextually rich and analyzable at scale.

Criticisms focus on potential subjectivity, challenges in replicability, and the need for rigorous standards to ensure reliability. Critics argue that without clear protocols, qualitative interpretation may be inconsistent across researchers; supporters contend that transparent documentation and preregistration of coding frameworks mitigate this risk.
