Pühaigekondensaator

Pühaigekondensaator, sometimes referred to as an "air capacitor" in English, is a type of capacitor where the dielectric material between the conductive plates is air. Unlike capacitors that use solid dielectric materials such as ceramics, plastics, or mica, the insulating medium in a pühaigekondensaator is simply the air itself. This design offers several distinct characteristics.

One primary advantage of pühaigekondensaator is its low dielectric loss. Air has very low energy absorption and dissipation properties, making these capacitors suitable for applications where minimal signal degradation is crucial, such as in radio frequency circuits and high-frequency oscillators. They also tend to have excellent stability over a wide range of temperatures, as air's properties are less affected by thermal variations compared to many solid dielectrics.

However, the capacitance value achievable with air as the dielectric is relatively low for a given physical size. This is because air has a low dielectric constant. Consequently, pühaigekondensaator are often larger than capacitors with solid dielectrics for the same capacitance value. Many pühaigekondensaator are also variable, meaning their capacitance can be adjusted. This is typically achieved by altering the overlapping area of the conductive plates, often through a mechanical rotation mechanism. This adjustability makes them invaluable for tuning circuits in radio receivers and transmitters, allowing users to select different frequencies.
