Pályakerékpárversenyek, also known as track cycling races, are a form of competitive cycling contested on a specialized, oval-shaped track called a velodrome. These events are characterized by their high speeds and tactical racing. Velodromes typically have steeply banked turns to allow cyclists to maintain momentum at high velocities.

There are numerous disciplines within track cycling, each with its own unique rules and strategies. Common events include sprints, where two or more cyclists race over a short distance, often involving a tactical build-up to a final burst of speed. The individual pursuit and team pursuit involve cyclists or teams racing against the clock over longer distances, starting on opposite sides of the track. The Keirin is a Japanese-originated event where cyclists follow a pacer for several laps before a final sprint. Madison races are a team event for men, named after Madison Square Garden, where riders from the same team take turns racing by passing the baton in a hand-sling. The omnium is a multi-event competition comprising several different track disciplines, testing a rider's versatility.

Track cycling demands exceptional power, speed, endurance, and tactical awareness from its athletes. The races are often fast-paced and can be decided by fractions of a second. It is a popular Olympic sport, with events held at the Summer Games showcasing the pinnacle of the discipline.
