Pyörätuolitennis is a version of tennis adapted for players who use wheelchairs. It is played with the same rules as able-bodied tennis with one significant modification: players are allowed two bounces of the ball. The first bounce must be within the court boundaries, and the second bounce can be anywhere. This rule change allows players more time to reach the ball and execute their shots.

The sport originated in the United States in the 1970s and has since gained international popularity. It is now a recognized sport in major tournaments, including the Grand Slams, where it is played as a demonstration event or as part of the main competition. The equipment used is similar to regular tennis, with players using their tennis racquets. However, specialized wheelchairs are often used to enhance maneuverability on the court. These wheelchairs are designed for agility and stability, allowing players to move quickly and effectively.

Pyörätuolitennis requires a high level of skill, strategy, and physical fitness. Players develop unique techniques for hitting the ball while maneuvering their wheelchairs, often involving one-handed shots or specialized spins. The sport promotes physical activity, social interaction, and competitive spirit among individuals with disabilities. It is governed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and has a dedicated wheelchair tennis tour with rankings and tournaments for professional players. Amateur and recreational play is also widespread.
