This results in a material that is resistant to moisture, rot, and insect infestation, making it a popular choice for outdoor applications.

Common uses for puukomposiitti include decking, fencing, railing, and outdoor furniture. Its perceived benefits over traditional wood include a longer lifespan, reduced need for staining or sealing, and consistent appearance. While it offers advantages, it also has drawbacks. Puukomposiitti can be more expensive than some wood types, and its thermal expansion can be a consideration in certain climates. The aesthetic appeal, while often mimicking wood, may not fully replicate the natural grain and feel of real wood for some consumers. Environmental considerations also include the energy required for manufacturing and the recyclability of the composite itself at the end of its lifespan.
