Purposerathers are a proposed clade of medium‑to‑large theropod dinosaurs that were primarily terrestrial predators. The name derives from the Greek "purposes" meaning "purposeful" and the Latin "raptor," reflecting their specialized hunting adaptations. Phylogenetic analyses place them within the Neotetanurae, sister to the Acrocanthosauridae, based on shared features such as an elongated, elongated neck and a robust, recurved dentition pattern.
