Puhekieliset are expressions associated with puhekieli, the informal spoken Finnish used in everyday conversation. Puhekieli denotes a register that contrasts with kirjakieli, the standardized written Finnish, and puhekieliset refers to the words, phrases, and constructions typical of that informal speech. They appear in casual talk, messaging, social media, and popular media, and they function to convey immediacy, familiarity, and group belonging.

Typical features of puhekieliset include pronoun substitutions, such as mä for minä and sä for sinä, and other shortened forms like tää for tämä or toi for tuo. Morphology and syntax are often simplified or altered, sometimes with loss of inflection in everyday speech and with more flexible word order. Pronunciation may also be relaxed, with vowel reduction or consonant changes common in rapid speech. The vocabulary frequently blends standard Finnish with slang, regional expressions, and borrowings from English or other languages, producing a dynamic, evolving set of terms used to signal informality or in-group identity.
