Puheesta
Puheesta is the elative form of the Finnish noun puhe, meaning "speech" or "talk". Morphologically it is formed by adding the case ending -sta/-stä to puhe, producing puheesta. In Finnish elative case forms denote movement out of, origin, source or a point of departure, and are also used in many idiomatic expressions to mean "about" or "judging from".
Pronunciation is approximately [ˈpuheestɑ], with primary stress on the first syllable. There is no consonant gradation
Typical uses and translations include "from the speech", "out of the talk" and, in contexts of discussion
- Puhuimme puheesta, jonka hän piti eilen. (We talked about the speech he gave yesterday.)
- Puheesta päätellen hän oli valmistautunut hyvin. (Judging from the speech, he was well prepared.)
Puheesta appears in ordinary conversation, journalistic writing and academic contexts whenever the elative case is required
