Puettavias

Puettavias is a fictional genus of avian creatures that inhabit the archipelago of Aeridor. These birds are characterized by their iridescent plumage, which shifts in color depending on the angle of light, ranging from deep blues and greens to vibrant purples and reds. Their wingspans are notably large, allowing for extended periods of gliding on the thermals that rise from Aeridor's volcanic landscapes.

The diet of Puettavias primarily consists of large, bioluminescent insects found in the dense, tropical forests of the islands. They possess sharp, hooked beaks, adapted for grasping their prey in mid-air. Puettavias are known to be solitary creatures, only coming together for brief mating rituals.

Reproduction involves the laying of a single, large egg, which is incubated by both parents. Chicks are born with a duller coloration, their iridescent feathers developing as they mature. The lifespan of a Puettavias is estimated to be around thirty years, with much of this time spent foraging and maintaining their territories.
