Psühhomeetriteks is a term derived from Greek words 'psyche' meaning soul or mind, and 'metron' meaning measure. In essence, it refers to methods or tools believed to measure or assess psychological phenomena, particularly those considered to be beyond the scope of conventional scientific instruments.

Historically, the concept has been associated with parapsychology and esoteric beliefs. Early proponents of psychometry, for instance, claimed to be able to glean information about a person or an object by touching it. This information was supposedly perceived through psychic abilities rather than through empirical observation or physical measurement. While some individuals have reported such experiences, these claims have not been substantiated by rigorous scientific investigation.

Modern interpretations of psühhomeetriteks are often broader, encompassing any attempt to quantify subjective experiences or mental states, even if those attempts are not explicitly framed within a paranormal context.
