The Proteinfeldern is an Alpine-style mountain hut located in the Austrian Alps, specifically in the region of Vorarlberg. The hut is situated at an elevation of 972 meters above sea level and is operated by the Österreichischer Alpenverein (Austrian Alpine Association). The Proteinfeldern is accessible via a 3-kilometer long trail from the nearby village of Vandans, which can be reached by car or public transportation. The hut typically operates from early June to late September, offering accommodations for up to 24 people in shared rooms and dormitories. Guests can enjoy simple meals and beverages, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a selection of self-catering options.

The Proteinfeldern is a favored starting point for various excursions, including hikes to nearby peaks, such as the Pfandsberg and the Klostertaler Bergwerk. In winter, the hut serves as a base for ski touring and snowshoe excursions, offering access to numerous routes and trails.

The Proteinfeldern is subject to the Austrian Alpenverein's hut management guidelines, which ensure a high level of sustainability, environmental protection, and guest comfort. The hut's operations are guided by a strict set of rules and regulations, including a strong focus on energy efficiency, waste management, and responsible tourism practices.

Please note that the Proteinfeldern is privately operated, and guests are expected to adhere to a fixed set of rules and regulations. Visitors are also required to register at the nearby Wanderturm Vandans village office before embarking on their tour and to report back as soon as they have arrived at the Proteinfeldern.
