Prostatadrüsen

Prostatadrüsen, commonly known as the prostate, is a small gland found in the male reproductive system. It is located just below the bladder and in front of the rectum. The prostate surrounds the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body. Its primary function is to produce prostatic fluid, a component of semen that nourishes and transports sperm.

The size of the prostate typically increases with age. While a young adult prostate is about the size of a walnut, it can grow larger in older men. This growth can sometimes lead to health issues. Common conditions affecting the prostate include prostatitis, which is inflammation of the gland, and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous enlargement. Prostate cancer is another significant concern, particularly in older men.

Symptoms associated with prostate problems can vary. These may include difficulty urinating, a weak urine stream, frequent urination especially at night, and pain in the pelvic area or lower back. It is important for men to be aware of these potential issues and to consult a healthcare professional for regular check-ups and any concerns they may have. Early detection and management are key for many prostate-related conditions.
