Problemtisk

Problemtisk is an adjective that denotes something that presents problems or is difficult to deal with. The word is formed from the noun problem plus a common adjectival suffix -tisk, a pattern found in several Nordic languages to express characteristics. In standard usage, the preferred spellings are problematisk in Danish and Norwegian, and problematiskt in Swedish. The form problemtisk appears primarily as a nonstandard variant or misspelling, and is not widely attested in dictionaries. Because of its irregular status, writers are generally advised to use the conventional forms appropriate to their language.

In English-language contexts, the closest equivalent is problematic. The Nordic forms are used in formal and informal discussions to label issues, processes, or proposals that raise difficulties or complexity.
