Risks and challenges include misconfigurations, insecure key storage, deprecated or weak algorithms, and overreliance on end-user protections. Ongoing risk assessment, monitoring, and timely updates to cryptographic controls are essential, including key rotation, revocation, and migration to stronger standards as needed.
