Potatoshaped

Potatoshaped is an informal English adjective used to describe something that has a compact, rounded, somewhat irregular form reminiscent of a potato. The term is folk usage rather than a formal scientific category, and it often appears in descriptive writing, design critiques, or casual speech to convey a blob-like, non-spherical shape.

In physical form, potatoshaped objects are typically roughly ellipsoidal or oblong, with a short axis length close to the other axes but with an irregular surface, shallow lobes, or small bulges. This contrasts with smooth spheres or highly elongated prisms. In nature and everyday objects, tubers, some fruits, seeds, and certain stones or aggregates can take a potatoshaped appearance, especially when growth conditions or erosional processes produce asymmetry.

In usage, the term appears in fields such as biology, geology, and design mainly as a non-technical descriptor. In product design and computer graphics, it can describe a hand-friendly, easily grippable form or a 'blobby' mesh when a precise geometry is not required.
