Postitlappuja

Postitlappuja is the Finnish word for sticky notes or Post-it Notes. These are small pieces of paper with a re-adhering strip of adhesive on the back, designed to be temporarily attached to documents, surfaces, or other items. The adhesive is typically pressure-sensitive, allowing the note to be stuck and unstuck multiple times without leaving residue.

The invention of sticky notes is often attributed to Spencer Silver, a scientist at 3M, in the 1970s. He developed a low-tack adhesive that was strong enough to stick but weak enough to be removed cleanly. Arthur Fry, another 3M employee, later conceived of using this adhesive on paper for marking pages in his church hymnal. The product was officially launched by 3M under the brand name Post-it Notes in 1980.

Postitlappuja are used for a wide variety of purposes. They are commonly employed for reminders, messages, labeling, brainstorming, and organizing information. Their versatility has made them a staple in offices, schools, and homes worldwide. They come in various sizes, shapes, and colors, further enhancing their adaptability for different uses.
