In astrophysics, the detection of gamma-ray lines, such as the 511 keV line, which arises from electron-positron annihilation, can indicate the presence of positron rich regions in space, potentially originating from processes like the decay of radioactive isotopes produced in supernovae or from exotic astrophysical phenomena.
