Positionsberichte

In government and administration, a Positionsbericht may be used to explain the state’s stance on proposed policy or legislation, outlining legal or political implications and a recommended course of action. In business, project teams produce positionsberichte to document the current status, the organization’s position on scope, budget, or schedule, and the rationales behind decisions, typically for the board or steering committee. In military or security settings, such reports can convey the current posture, risks, and planned responses.

Typical contents include an executive summary, background, the stated position, supporting data and rationale, risks and constraints, alternative options, and recommended next steps or decisions. They typically name responsible persons and dates, and may include appendices with data sources or impact assessments.
