Poolempiiriliste, also known as Poole's sea lion or Australian sea lion, is a species of earless seal found in the southern hemisphere. The scientific name for this species is Otaria flavescens. Poolempiiriliste is named after the British naturalist George Poole, who first described the species in 1768. They are medium-sized pinnipeds, with adults typically measuring between 1.5 to 2 meters in length and weighing between 100 to 200 kilograms.

These sea lions are known for their distinctive yellowish-brown fur, which can vary in color depending on the individual and the season. They have a stocky build, with a broad head, small flippers, and a short, thick tail. Poolempiiriliste are social animals, often found in large colonies on rocky islands and coasts. They are known for their playful behavior, including surfacing with their flippers raised in a "V" shape, a behavior known as "V-shape surfacing."

Poolempiiriliste are carnivorous, feeding primarily on fish and squid. They are known to dive to depths of up to 100 meters in search of food. Breeding occurs during the summer months, with females giving birth to a single pup after a gestation period of about 11 months. The pups are born with a thick layer of blubber, which helps them survive in the cold waters of their native range.

Poolempiiriliste are listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List, as their population is stable and they are not currently facing any significant threats. However, they are still vulnerable to human activities such as fishing, pollution, and habitat destruction. Conservation efforts are in place to protect these animals and their habitats.
