Polyuretaanitiivisteitä, commonly known as polyurethane sealants, are versatile sealing materials widely used in construction, automotive, and industrial applications. They are formed through the reaction of isocyanates and polyols, resulting in a flexible and durable polymer. Their key properties include excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates, resistance to weathering, chemicals, and abrasion, and good elasticity, allowing them to accommodate movement between joined surfaces.

These sealants are typically supplied as one-part or two-part systems. One-part systems cure upon exposure to atmospheric moisture, while two-part systems require mixing before application. Polyurethane sealants offer a good balance of strength and flexibility, making them suitable for sealing joints, gaps, and cracks where movement is expected. They are often used for sealing expansion joints in concrete, window and door frames, and in automotive body construction for sealing seams and bonding panels. Their ability to be painted over after curing further enhances their utility in many applications. Compared to other sealant types, polyurethanes generally offer a longer service life and better performance in demanding environments.
